A long weekend in Bali done properly: a beachfront base in Seminyak, two brilliant dinners and a day at the best-known beach club in Canggu. Here’s exactly how I spent it.
Where I Stayed: Desa Potato Head
After Bali’s busy airport, checking into Desa Potato Head felt like a breath of fresh air. The recycled-shutter facade and modern Balinese design set the tone straight away.

My room had refillable toiletries, soft linen and its own bar for mixing cocktails. Here’s my full Desa Potato Head review.

Potato Head Beach Club is the place for sunset. I grabbed a daybed by the pool, ordered a cold coconut and watched the sky turn pink, with DJs playing laid-back sets and a mix of locals, travellers and artists all around.

Where to Eat
St Jacques
For dinner, St Jacques in a quiet corner of Seminyak brings a bit of Paris to Bali, with French-inspired dishes and a relaxed room. It was the perfect first night.

Sardine
Sardine is a beautiful open-air restaurant with a real party atmosphere and rustic, natural styling. Start with the crispy rice sushi with tuna, which is incredibly fresh, then order the grilled seafood.

A Day at Finn’s Beach Club
Finn’s Beach Club in Canggu is an institution. I booked the VIP area, which I’d recommend: you get a comfortable lounger, a welcome drink, towels, changing rooms, a locker, ice cream and an afternoon spritz. We tried all the pools, the quieter VIP one and the beach party ones, and loved the DJ and the party atmosphere.

We had lunch at St Tropez, one of Finn’s three restaurants. The food was great and the setting perfect, but it was almost empty, so don’t go there for a buzz.

Lena’s Tips
- Base yourself in Seminyak. It’s close to the best restaurants and an easy drive to Canggu.
- Book Finn’s VIP. The extras make it worth it for a full day.
- Do sunset at Potato Head. Arrive early for a daybed.
- Book dinners ahead. St Jacques and Sardine are both popular.
The Verdict
Bali packs a lot into a long weekend. Stay at Potato Head, eat at St Jacques and Sardine, and give Finn’s a whole day. I left rested and already planning my next trip.
