The Perfect Singapore Itinerary for a Luxury Family Holiday

If you’re planning a getaway that balances "wow" moments for the kids with world-class indulgence for the adults, Singapore is the place to go.

Singapore is far more than a stopover. It’s one of the best cities in the world for a luxury family holiday, with big-city glamour and tropical island days in one trip. Here’s our itinerary: a few nights in the city, then three on Sentosa.

Part 1: The City (2 to 3 Nights)

Start with a few nights around Marina Bay. Singapore is so efficient that exploring with kids is genuinely easy.

Where to Stay

Mandarin Oriental: right on Marina Bay, with floor-to-ceiling skyline views that will leave the kids (and you) speechless. The service is legendary, and the pool is one of the best in the city for families. Even when it’s overcast, Singapore is hot, so a great pool is essential.

Sofitel Singapore City Centre: in Tanjong Pagar, close to Chinatown, with a sleek, modern feel, lots of greenery and an incredible infinity pool.

Where to Eat

Brasserie Astoria: in the heritage-listed Victoria Concert Hall, this is my absolute favourite right now. It’s from Swedish chef Björn Frantzén, with high ceilings and a moody, old-world glamour. It feels exclusive, but the tableside service makes it surprisingly fun for kids. Order the Toast Astoria, and if you want a show, the tableside Caesar salad or the flambéed steak.

Gourmet appetizer with shrimp, red onion, caviar, and microgreens on a toasted round, lime on side. A glass of red wine in the background.

Two kids enjoy spaghetti at a restaurant. One eagerly lifts pasta high, the other leans in to eat. White tablecloth, cozy booth.

What to Do

Gardens by the Bay: the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are non-negotiable. Book a private tour to learn about the plants, then stay for the evening light show at the Supertree Grove.

Shopping: wander The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands or the boutiques on Orchard Road.

A family of four poses in front of a waterfall and lush greenery with dinosaur statues. The mood is cheerful and tropical.

Part 2: Sentosa (3 Nights)

Next, cross the short bridge to Sentosa Island. It’s only 15 minutes away, but it feels like a different world.

Where to Stay: Raffles Sentosa

For total privacy, book the new Raffles Sentosa, the island’s first all-villa resort. Every villa has its own pool and the famous Raffles butler service. It’s the perfect retreat after a busy day.

Elegant pool area surrounded by lush greenery, stone patio, and luxurious seating. Clear blue water reflects the serene, tropical atmosphere.

Where to Eat: Empire Grill

Empire Grill is a modern Italian restaurant by the pool, sophisticated but relaxed, with lush tropical views. The service is excellent, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. They specialise in wood-fired meat and seafood. My favourite was the pasta with burrata and truffle, and the Amarone is very well priced.

A plate of pasta with burrata, black pepper, and herbs. A bottle of Amarone wine and a glass of red wine are on a dark table. Cozy setting.

Universal Studios Singapore

You can’t stay on Sentosa without a day at Universal Studios. Book the VIP Experience: you get a guided tour, priority access to at least eight rides and private character meet-and-greets. It’s the way to do the park if you value your time.

Why Singapore Works for Families

Singapore is all about the details: spotless streets, beautiful gardens and brilliant restaurants. All the usual friction of travel with kids simply disappears.

Lena’s Tips

  • Pick a hotel with a great pool. You’ll use it every day.
  • Book Brasserie Astoria early. It’s popular.
  • Do the Universal VIP Experience. It saves hours of queuing.
  • Visit Jewel at Changi. The Rain Vortex is best seen in person on your way in or out.
  • Add Bintan. It’s a 50-minute ferry away. Here’s my Bintan with kids guide.

The Verdict

From a villa at Raffles Sentosa to a sunset over Marina Bay, Singapore delivers a luxury family holiday that everyone will remember. Which hotel is top of your list? Tell me in the comments.
