If you’re heading to Doha with kids and want proper luxury without losing the family-friendly feel, Marsa Malaz Kempinski on The Pearl is a brilliant choice. We’ve stayed twice, once with a baby and again with two kids, and the pools alone make it worth it.

The Pearl-Qatar

The hotel sits on The Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island with a Mediterranean feel, yacht-lined marinas, designer boutiques and smart restaurants. It’s a destination in itself, with pretty streets and a calm waterfront.

The Pools

There are several pools spread across beautifully landscaped grounds, so it feels like its own little tropical resort. The huge main pool has shaded cabanas and plenty of room to swim and splash, and there’s a quieter pool tucked away for a calmer afternoon.

If you can tear yourself away (we barely could), there’s also a private beach with calm, clear, shallow water that’s perfect for little ones. One warning: from June to August, Doha is extremely hot, and the sand will burn your feet.

The Rooms

The rooms and suites are beautifully appointed and suit everyone from couples to families with young kids. The beds are enormous and incredibly comfortable.

Dining

Our favourite was Lobito de Mar, with amazing seafood in beautiful surroundings. There’s also BiBo for Andalusian fine dining and Harry’s Dolce Vita for Italian.

There’s a well-equipped gym, with a women-only section, and a spa. The kids loved the complimentary treats and mocktails in the lobby.

Lena’s Tips

  • Avoid the summer heat if you can. June to August is extremely hot.
  • Book Lobito de Mar. It’s the best restaurant in the hotel.
  • Find the quiet pool. It’s perfect when you want some peace.
  • Explore The Pearl. The marina is lovely for an evening stroll.

The Verdict

Marsa Malaz Kempinski hits that rare sweet spot between luxury and laid-back. The pools are dreamy, everything is easy with kids, and we left already talking about coming back. For a family stopover in Doha, I’d highly recommend it.
