Hotel Review: Ikos Andalusia, Estepona, Spain

Located along the sun-drenched shores of Spain’s Costa del Sol, Ikos Andalusia is where luxury meets laid-back Mediterranean charm. As a...

Palm-lined reflecting pool at Ikos Andalusia

Ikos Andalusia, on the Costa del Sol near Estepona, is one of my very favourite resorts. As a mum of two, I want somewhere that’s properly relaxing for us and genuinely fun for the kids. Ikos Andalusia does both, and the food is the best all-inclusive dining I’ve had.

Our Suite

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with its own private garden, which was perfect for our family of four. A bottle of perfectly chilled Champagne was waiting when we arrived, which set the tone nicely.

The suite was spacious and stylish, with a comfortable bedroom and a huge bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The garden was the best part: morning coffee and evening drinks in total peace.

Several mornings we had breakfast in the garden instead of going to a restaurant. Unlimited room service is part of Ikos’s Unconditional Luxury concept, and it’s a real treat with kids.

Bars and Pools

There are several bars, but the Main Bar is my favourite, with exceptional cocktails and a view that’s hard to beat.

There’s a pool for everyone: a splash pool for little ones, an adults-only pool and a Deluxe-only pool with its own cocktail bar. We spent most days in the pools, and our eldest went to the Kids Club for a morning or afternoon.

The Beach

The one thing that isn’t five-star is the beach. It’s not great for lounging or swimming, although there were plenty of windsurfers. Stick to the pools.

The Food

This is where Ikos really stands out. Forget lukewarm buffets: the restaurants are à la carte, with menus created with Michelin-starred chefs. Our first dinner was at Seasons, and it was my favourite, with a gorgeous view and incredible food. It’s on my list of restaurants with a view.

Lena’s Tips

  • Book a suite with a garden. Breakfast in private is a game-changer with kids.
  • Eat at Seasons first. It sets the bar for the rest of the stay.
  • Use the room service. It’s unlimited and included.
  • Don’t plan around the beach. The pools are where you’ll spend your days.

The Verdict

Ikos Andalusia is all-inclusive done right: brilliant food, great service and a resort that keeps everyone happy. We left pampered and refreshed, with the kids full of stories. Comparing Ikos resorts? Read my Ikos Aria review.

“I’ve never been as relaxed as I was at Ikos Andalusia. Book Seasons and order the Champagne.” – Lena
