Stockholm is one of my favourite cities, and Bank Hotel is one of my favourite hotels there. It’s a luxury boutique hotel in a grand former bank right in the centre, with a rooftop bar, two great restaurants and a cocktail bar in the old bank manager’s office.

The Building
Built in 1910 as a bank headquarters, the building is all marble columns and beautiful detailing. The hotel has kept that grandeur and added sleek, modern touches, so it feels historic without being stuffy.

The Rooms
The rooms are beautiful, though on the cosy side, and the bed was super comfortable. We were welcomed with fresh strawberries, perfectly salted Marcona almonds and a bottle of bubbles.
Le Hibou Rooftop Bar
Le Hibou, the rooftop bar, has one of the best views in Stockholm, out over the rooftops and the water. It’s stylish but relaxed, with classic and new cocktails. I had a delicious Negroni.

Bonnie’s
Bonnie’s, the main restaurant, is in the old bank’s soaring atrium. The menu mixes international flavours with Swedish ingredients. Breakfast is here too: a buffet with an à la carte menu, with healthy options (green juice, salads, smoked salmon) and decadent ones (cinnamon buns).

Papillon
Papillon is a cosy, Art Deco cocktail bar in what was once the bank manager’s office, with the original high ceilings and wood panelling. It’s perfect for a nightcap.

Lena’s Tips
- Start the evening at Le Hibou. Go at sunset for the view.
- Have breakfast at Bonnie’s. Don’t skip the cinnamon buns.
- End with a drink at Papillon. The room is beautiful.
- Book a bigger room if you need space. The standard rooms are cosy.
The Verdict
Would I recommend Bank Hotel? Absolutely. The location is unbeatable, the building is beautiful and the bars and restaurants make it a destination in itself.
