Falkenberg Strandbad is a stylish beach hotel on Sweden’s west coast, right on a long sandy beach. With four pools, a cosy brasserie and a lobby that feels like a friend’s seaside living room, it’s made for switching off.

The Lobby
The lobby feels less like a hotel entrance and more like a stylish seaside living room, with warm tones, deep sofas and a cosy fireplace. It’s the kind of place where you settle in with a coffee and forget you’re checking in.

Four Pools and a Beach
There are four pools: an adults-only indoor pool, a deep outdoor pool, a shallow outdoor pool and a jacuzzi. They’re all nice and warm. We used every one except the indoor pool, because the weather was incredible.

The hotel is right on the beach, so you can swim in the sea too.

Dinner at Brasserie Famille
We ate at Brasserie Famille, the resort’s restaurant, which also serves breakfast. It’s a big room, but it feels cosy and relaxed. I started with a delicious steak tartare and had the fish for my main. Both were great.

The One Downside
My least favourite part was the room itself, which was small and in need of renovation. With so much to do at the resort, though, we barely spent any time in it.

Lena’s Tips
- Go in summer. The outdoor pools and the beach are at their best.
- Ask about room upgrades. The standard rooms are small.
- Book dinner at Famille. Start with the steak tartare.
The Verdict
Falkenberg Strandbad strikes a lovely balance between beach holiday and understated luxury. We enjoyed it so much we’re planning to go back.
